Malcolm Alker (born 4 November 1978) is a retired English rugby league footballer who played as a hooker. He spent his entire professional career with Salford City Reds, making over 350 appearances between 1997 and 2010. He also served as the club's captain for many years. ==Career== Born in Wigan, Greater Manchester, Alker started his junior career with Orrell St James before moving to Wigan St Patricks. He joined Salford Reds in May 1997, and made his debut later that year against Sheffield Eagles. He has represented Lancashire and England. In August 2010, Alker announced that he would be retiring at the end of the season, but would remain at the club in a coaching role. Malcolm started the 2011 season as assistant coach to Shaun McRae at Salford City Reds but his future at the club hangs in the balance due to being dismissed from a training session in April.
